This weekend was jam-packed with the emotions of happiness, sadness, and the feeling of just getting started.

The weekend started off on Friday, November 14th, when the John Jay Bloodhounds took on the Brooklyn College Bulldogs at the 2025 CUNYAC Championship Game at Baruch College on Friday night. This game was a hard-fought cinematic battle between the two. John Jay was able to secure its back-to-back title, winning the match three sets to one against a scrappy Brooklyn team ranked third in the conference. The Bulldogs were led by Jaydn Orava, the player of the game, with 25 kills and 2 aces. Emilia Cascapera added an additional 13 kills and 2 blocks, and Madison Mullan contributed 9 kills along with 3 aces and 2 blocks to secure the win.

What a great season played throughout the entire volleyball CUNYAC conference. Lots of transfers and emerging talent from all over! We’re excited about what’s ahead next fall.

The CUNYAC Women’s Volleyball semi-final game took place on Thursday night as the John Jay Bloodhounds faced the Hunter Hawks at their home court. A rematch from the 2024 final games was one to watch. John Jay, a squad led by head coach Austin Voges, looks to go back to the championship game against a Hawks team led by Andrew Woolward, who lost to John Jay the year prior and are looking to make a comeback statement. The game started off strongly in favor of the Bloodhounds, and the Hawks didn’t back down, ending the first set 25-23 in favor of John Jay. Despite the Hawks' tough defense, kills, and digs throughout the sets, John Jay won the next two sets 25-18 and 25-19, winning the semifinal game 3-0. John Jay was led by Jadyn Orava with 15 kills, Madison Mullan added 13 kills while Emilia Cascapera added an extra 7 kills towards the Bloodhounds win. For the Hawks, Amina Moummad led the pack with 10 kills, Michelle Liu contributed 7 kills and Lily Mattison added 6 kills despite Hunter’s loss. The Bloodhounds are set to play in the CUNYAC finals on November 14th at Baruch College at 6:30 pm.

CUNYAC Women’s Volleyball- Baruch vs Brooklyn College

The CUNYAC Women’s Volleyball semi-final match at Baruch's home court was cinematic as the Bearcats took on the Bulldogs in a 5 set match game. Baurch’s squad, led by Anna Carbone, was a young, gritty group that was looking to create history again as their program hasn’t competed in the championship game since 2013. The Bulldogs, led by interim head coach Lauren Caiaccia, are a team full of hungry players looking to make an appearance to the championship game since last being there in 2021 and winning the CUNYAC title. This match started in favor of the Bearcats leading and winning the first set. However, the momentum shifted after the Bulldogs won the next two sets leading the scoreboard 2-1, with the chance of ending the game during the fourth. The Bearcats reacted and forced the game to a 5-set match, winning the fourth set 25-19 tying the score, 2-2. The fifth set was played first to 15, and a battle was fought. Despite the grit from the Bearcats, the Bulldogs pulled through with the win on Thursday night, winning the last set 15-12. The Bearcats were led by Dibjot Kaur with 19 kills, Karolina Lundqvist with 17 kills, and Ava Tartour with 6. The Bulldogs were led by Ella Snobar with 13 kills and Olive Carroll with 13 kills. Brooklyn College is set to face in the CUNYAC finals on November 14th at Baruch College at 6:30 pm.
